Broadcast Journalism
For the past two years, I (along with a partner) have produced one video story per year. It holds a special place in my heart and life because I never had any experience with video camera equipment and digital storytelling, but I learned quickly and efficiently and was able to produce quality work while dissecting the ins and outs of this field of journalism. In both videos produced, that process entails is brainstorming ideas, shooting b-roll (separate videos used while the interviewee is taking), hosting interviews, transcribing the interviews, composing a storyline, putting clips in order, cut clips if needed, editing with interviews, and putting b-roll together with appropriate transitions.
Video Stories
This video was made to recognize teenage up-and-coming artists who want to pursue music and consider it a passion of theirs. This idea came out from the idea that teenagers are often overlooked when it comes to musical abilities and we (my partner and I) wanted to recognize the next generation of musical talent. This video won a Best of SNO award as well as a 2020 Best in State award in the video category at the HHSJA Awards.
This video was made to acknowledge the seniors' last school year and how they were doing with the idea that lots of events and experiences that were supposed to happen as senior traditions did not occur at all due to COVID-19. Furthermore, we included the hardship of their school year and what they did to make the most of it before they graduated. This time, to improve our performance from the year before, we utilized our camera angles to the side of subjects when filming b-roll as well as getting more of a variety of b-roll so that it engages the audience for a longer period of time. This video won a Best of SNO award as well as a 2021 Best in State award in the video category at the HHSJA Awards.
